Welcome to the Cardiovascular Behavioral Medicine Lab website!
TRAINING IN THE CARDIOVASCULAR BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE LAB
Graduate students in Dr. Shari Waldstein’s lab have a broad range of interests and are encouraged to develop an independent and innovative program of research combining their respective interests in cardiovascular behavioral medicine, clinical and medical neuropsychology, aging, and health disparities/inequities. Students engage in various types of research experiences, including analysis of epidemiological data, multidisciplinary clinical research studies, and laboratory-based investigations. In collaboration with our colleagues at the National Institute on Aging's Intramural Research Program, Drs. Alan Zonderman and Michele Evans, graduate students frequently examine data from the Healthy Aging in Neighborhoods of Diversity Across the Lifespan (HANDLS) study.
We have a particular interest in working with students who aspire to engage in academic careers, or scientist-practitioner careers having a substantial research focus. Yet, we remain sensitive to the development of individual students’ interests over time as they engage in their training and promote achievement of personal goals. Our students have an excellent track record of securing top clinical internships, post-doctoral experiences, and job placements.
Our lab embraces, advocates for, and welcomes individuals from all backgrounds. We are diverse with respect to gender, race, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation, and we are strongly committed to training persons from underrepresented groups.
